A long table with three legs has a deep slot on the right side. On the rear side of the slot is a post that holds a drive wheel with a flat rim and ten spokes. At the other end of the table an attached board holds the arm that extends straight out to hold the spindle vertically. Above the arm is a horizontal pulley, an accelerating wheel. Resting on that is a gear mechanism, the horizontal part on the wheel and the vertical part screwed to a small board nailed to the back of the table. A foot pedal is pinned between the two right-hand legs and controls the movement of the arm. There is a counterweight on the rear side.
